For Savannah

My sweet Savannah is 5 years old today. It's hard to believe. She is getting big so fast. Here's a little bit of history on Savannah and her entrance into this world. I had problems with my heart beating too fast during my pregnancy. I was on medication and because of it I had non stress testing on the baby 2 times a week the last couple of months of my pregnancy. Savannah had been down really low from the very beginning. It was a very uncomfortable pregnancy. I went in for my nst 5 days before my due date. I was getting so anxious to be done and to meet Savannah. The nurse started to do an ultra sound and was making all these weird faces. She's like what happened. She's searching all over my stomach. "Oh my Gosh!" she says. "Your baby turned." Savannah decided to do a loop de loop and was now butt first. I was not a happy camper. I didn't know what it meant, I just knew it wasn't good. So they took me over to labor and delivery and decided to try to turn her. I was so close to my due date, they were going to attempt to turn her and then induce labor. It was probably one of the most painful procedures I have ever had. I would not recommend it. I had two female doctors on one side of me and a male doctor on the other side. The man was pulling on my stomach and the women were pushing. They tried several times and she wouldn't budge. So my doctor scheduled a c-section for 6 days later. The day after my due date. Her schedule was full. She told me if I started to go into labor to come in immediately and they'd do the c-section. I didn't go into labor though. I came back 6 days later, miserable and scared. My stomach was totally bruised from the turn attempt. My doctor asked me what happened to me. I told her " You did this to me " She wasn't thrilled with that response. When they were prepping me for surgery, they sat Dwight down to wait to come in after I had the spinal. The nurse forgot to go get them. So the doctor was cutting into me and I'm like "Where's my husband." The nurse says, "oh, oops, I'll go get him." So when Dwight walked in they had already cut into the first layer. He walked over and sat next to me a little disturbed. The doctor kept telling him to get his camera ready so he could take a picture of the baby coming out. At the at point he did not want to see the baby coming out of an incision cut in my stomach. Everything went well though and she was healthy and I was fine. She was 8 pounds and 1 ounce. She had soooo much black hair. We knew immediately that she looked like me. She was such a sweet baby. She smiled from the first day she was born. (not gas) She was a good sleeper, a good eater, and a blessed second baby. Gracie struggled with having a baby and I was thankful that Savannah was so good, it helped our adjustment. Savannah is sassy and sweet. She has a great attitude and great confidence in herself. We realized that her speech was delayed in her second year. I worried a lot and Dwight always reasured me that she would be fine. She is thriving. Her speech has improved in leaps and bounds. You can still tell she has a speech delay, but I think in the next couple of years she'll improve more and some day you'll never even know she had it. She is totally a kid. She loves toys and dress up. Her favorite things are girly monkeys, tinker bell, and Sharpei from High School Musical. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite food is pizza. I am so thankful to be her mother and to have her as a part of our family. She brings us so much joy. I love you Savannah. Happy Birthday!
