I think two weeks ago now I decided to start the Twilight series. A couple of my friends loaned me 1,2, and 3. I decided that if I was going to read them it better be that week before school started. So I read all four in one week. I finished the night before school started for us which was Septemeber 3. So I was totally engrossed and my house totally suffered because of it. I was entertained, and enthralled, but it was all some how wrong at the same time and it gives me a stomach ache to think about it.
Then September 4th we started school. I have been really stressed about home schooling two children. I kept asking myself why I don't just make my life easier and send them to school. But, this week doing school at home with them I was reminded why I homeschool. Because I love my kids so much and I love being around them. The girls did so good this week. They are attentive and obedient and soooo smart. I love homeschooling. I love that what they learn comes from me and I know everything going on in their day. I love being a part of their education. I have sooo much fun with them. It's not easy and I have a lot more prep this year having two students and I have to be a lot more organized, but it is soooo rewarding. (Thanks to Dwight for helping me soooo much with the boys. You're the best)
Today was our first day of Community Day. The girls will go once a week to a program organized by our Charter school. CAVA. They will have a couple of hours of classroom instruction and then lunch and recess time. I do it so that they will learn how to sit in a classroom and for them to have the opportunity for some social interaction. They had a lot of fun today. It is also helpful for me to visit with other homeschool moms and get ideas and support. Savannah also had her first day of Speech therapy yesterday. I love our new speech therapist. She did a test with Savannah and in the half hour we were there with her she figured out exactly what Savannah needs help with and next week will have her plan for the year. Her goal is to have Savannah's speech 80% accurate by the end of the year. She felt like Savannah would be able to improve enough that she will be able to exit speech therapy within the next couple of years. I feel so relieved and blessed to have her for Savannah.
After community day the girls and I stopped by the Redlands temple because we were only a couple of miles away. It was a beautiful day today and so nice to just walk the temple grounds with my girls.
