To Warm the Heart

There's nothing like a warm hot chocolate as I snuggle on the couch in the evening and watch some of my DVR shows. I have been loving this Swiss Miss diet hot cocoa with only 25 calories. I add a touch of milk sometimes and a dallop of whipped cream. But, lately I've been adding these oh so cute heart shaped marshmallows because it is the month of love.  I have no affiliation with these brands, I just like them.

In honor of Valentine's Day, one of my personal favorite holidays, although whichever holiday is here is my favorite at that time, here are some quotations.

  • "A man is not where he lives, but where he loves." Latin Proverb
  • "The best portion of a good man's life, His little, nameless, unremembered acts, Of kindness and of love." William Wordsworth
  • "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be." Robert Browning
  • "Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love." Albert Einstein
  • "True love stories never have endings." Richard Bach
  • "Love is the true means by which the world is enjoyed: our love to others, and others' love to us." Thomas Trahern
  • "We find rest in those we love, and we provide a resting place in ourselves for those who love us." Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
  • "Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." Tennyson
  • "I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach." Elizabeth Barrett Browning
And a poem:

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.             Elizabeth Barrett Browning

this just might inspire me to write a poem in the next couple of days :)
