Road Trip Part 2

Day 2 we woke up in Tucson without any plans really. Where should we go, what should we do. The kids knew that at some point that wanted to hit the hotel pool. So we sauntered down to the lobby and checked out the brochures. We saw lots of things that looked beautiful and fun. There are a couple that we missed that I am anxious to go back for. We decided day one to take a trip  to Tombstone. I think it was again about 100 miles away if I remember right. My hubby mapped us a route with a couple of fun stops along the way.

First we stopped at the Seguaro Nationation Forrest or was is it the National Park. I don't remember now, but any hoo it was beautiful. One of the things I really like about AZ when we came was the lack of green. I have never been a fan of the desert landscape. It has grown on me. The seguaro's are amazing and beautiful and the desert is breathtaking.

Then we happened upon the Colossal Cave. That was amazing. We took a tour down into a cave. Wowzer. So, loved it. I will say that I was incredibly thankful that the bats have gone south for the winter. (Do we really have winter in AZ?) In the summer the cave is filled with bats. Ooooohhh so creepy. It was beautiful.

Then we made it to Tombstone. I loved the drive out there. You go through the cutest little town called St. David I think. It has cows and horses and camp parks. It seems like a simple happy place to live. (Way to far to the mall for me, but so cute.) Tombstone wasn't that exciting if you ask me. We didn't do much actually because everything cost $10 per person and when you times that times 6 it can add up really quick. So we walked the streets and ate some lunch. We did get our photo in old time clothes. That was so fun and will be a great memory for life.

On our way back we stopped for dinner at one of the Man vs Food restraunts. It was called El Guero Cannello. They are famous for the sonoran dog. It was alright. Their mexican food was yummy though. They had coke in a glass bottle which I love.

Then we finally made it back to our hotel for our evening swim. My kiddos are the cutest swimmers. Gunnar did go under in a deep spot for a second which panicked me and even thinking about it makes me about lose my breakfast, but I grabbed him quick and he was fine. He and I spent most of the rest of the evening in the hot tub.

Wow what a crazy, hectic, super fun great family day. It goes in one of my top 100 days of life.  I am such a lucky girl.

My Savannah is not what you would call outdoorsy. Her brother was happy to help her though, he is such a sweet brother.

In the cave. It is quite a hike and I had to just keep reminding myself to breathe as we went deeper and deeper into the cave. A bit clausterphobic.

The best kids ever!

My motto in life!
