Happy 4th of July

We love 4th of July. We started our morning early with a bike parade at church. The kids decorate their bikes and ride in little parade around the church parking lot. The kids loved it. Then we went and watched Despicable Me 2. It was a really hot day and the movie theater was a perfect place to spend a couple of hours. After the movie we came home and the kids and I started filling water balloons. Water balloon fights are definitely a favorite summer activity for my kiddos. We bbq'd with our AZ family, had a water balloon fight, ate home made ice cream. Then we had fun with some fireworks. The kids love sparklers. The big kids (Dwight and his brother Shawn) love to blow things up. They made some home made fireworks this year and blew up a couple of watermelon. I was a little nervous, but it was fine and really funny. We had a great day. The kids and I talked about how important it was for our country to gain independence from England so that we could have religious freedom. The kids sang happy birthday to our country. :)
