The Play: "The Glass Slipper" March 2015

We have an incredible group that we Co-op with. We get together every Friday with 4 other families who homeschool. We do lots of fun things and learn a lot too. This last school year we decided that we needed to do a play. Some of the other families with older kids had done one in the past. I convinced them we needed to do a musical. We have some really talented kiddos. After lots of planning on the moms parts, discussing and planning some more we decided to make it happen. It was months in the making. The kids learned lines and songs. They learned blocking. They spent hours upon hours rehearsing. The moms chose a script and then modified it to our children. We built sets, sewed costumes, made props, and designed a program. We spent countless hours. Thousands or hours. We felt like we lived at our stake center. Then in March the kids performed 2 shows of "The Glass Slipper". It was amazing. One of the very best things we have ever done. One of the most outstanding things I have ever been a part of. I was so incredibly proud of the kids. I was so proud of the moms. I was amazed at what 5 families could create. It was magical. My children will forever be better because of the opportunity. I can't fully express how it consumed our lives for 2 months. I can't fully express the labor of love that it became. I will forever be grateful for it though. I will cherish the memories of it.

Gunnar was the cutest baker. He yelled out to the audience to come buy his fresh baked bread. Completely adorable. He was also a royal guard.

Bear was the blacksmith. He made horse shoes and swords. He was the captain of the royal guard.

Savannah was a stepsister. She surprised us all. She is a natural actress. Her timing is fantastic. She naturally knows what to do with her body and her stage presence is incredible. The audience loved her. She was hysterical! Her song with the other step sister and step mother was a crowd favorite.

Gracie was Cinderella. She is naturally feminine, lovely, and beautiful. She sang beautifully. The younger girls in the play adored her. They still call her pretty Ella. Her confidence grew. I was so proud of her courage to play the lead, to sing solos, to dance, and to be a star.

I set up a castle back drop for people to take photos with and she was a hit with the little girls. They all wanted their picture with her. It was just amazing!

Fun fact: Gracie is wearing 3 crinolines under this dress that I sewed together, We wanted it really super poofy. This dress was a friends prom dress. So beautiful!
