My Baby Gunnar

Gunnar Raymon Dean Jordan was born October 4, 2006. I had a scheduled repeat c-section. He was born at Irvine Community Hospital. My all time favorite hospital. This was my hardest c-section. I got really sick. I was puking, or dry heaving really since I hadn't eaten in a million hours while I was laying on the operating table. It's a horrible feeling to be numb from the chest down laying on a skinny operating table and puking in a little dish. I kept telling the anesthesiologist that I get sick with anesthesia, and they gave me medicine, but it didn't really work. They had a hard time closing me so the surgery took a really long time. They ended up taking Gunnar out of the room because it's so cold in the operating room and Dwight went with him. I was dying to see him and to not have my guts hanging out. They finally got me all sewed up and took me to recovery with Gunnar. My pediatrician was from Norway. He was soooo excited when he heard we were naming him Gunnar. He told me the story of Gunnar the great viking warrior. It took several hours for the nausea to subside. I couldn't really hold Gunnar while I was vomiting so I was having a hard time nursing. The nurses kept telling me that they were going to have to give Gunnar a bottle if I wasn't able to nurse soon. Gunnar was so patient though and mostly slept after the trauma of birth. Finally I convinced one of the nurses to give me some crackers and soda and my stomach settled and I was able to nurse. Dwight didn't stay long at the hospital considering we had three kids at home for him to take care of. But, I had a great stay in the hospital. They only have private room at Irvine Community and the nurses are so nice. The food is pretty good and I had a rocking chair in my room. I was so content to stay there and bond with Gunnar before I had to return home to the mad house. My experience being a mom for the fourth time was definetly the best. I finally felt like I knew what I was doing. The other kids adapted so well. My first few days and weeks of life after Gunnar have such a sweet spot in my heart.
Gunnar is 100% boy. He loves cars and planes. He loves building and destroying things. He is a total monkey. He can climb on anything. He loves to play in the water. He LOVES the movie Mosters Inc. He tends to be kind of grumpy. He just recently has decided to be happy more often. He loves to play peek a boo. He loves to pretend he's a monster and scare you. He is a total mama's boy, which I love. He tries so hard to keep up with his older siblings. He has hit a lot of milestones early. He starts out in his crib but ends up in our bed most nights. He has my dad's name Raymon Dean. I can't decide who he looks like yet. I think he's our biggest combo kid. When he's older he'll probably be upset that I say this, but he is such a pretty boy. The baby blue eyes melt me. His eyelashes are sooo long, he has porcelain skin and beautiful features. He was sent in these last days with firm resovle and such a strong opinion about life. I am soooo thankful to be Gunnar's mom. He is so sweet and loveable. I can't imagine my life or our family without him. He is pure joy in my life. Happy Birthday my baby Gunnar!
